What are we looking for?
The strongest image will tell a story and will it give our design team enough flexibility to turn it into an effective Green Guide magazine cover.
✓ Your original work
✓ Portrait orientation for an A4 cover
✓ High resolution — ideally 300 dpi
✓ Clear space for the logo and cover lines
✓ No watermark or excessive editing
✓ Permission from recognisable people featured
✓ Recent or from a previous winter
✓ Suitable for print, digital, online and social use
A connection to Chiswick or the surrounding local area is ideal, but it is not essential.
How the cover will be selected
How we’ll choose our Winter cover.
Every eligible photograph will be reviewed by the Green Guide editorial team. We’re not simply looking for the most technically perfect image — we’re looking for the photograph that best captures the feeling of Winter in Chiswick and works beautifully as a Green Guide cover.
Does it feel like Winter in Chiswick?
We’ll look for photographs that feel authentic, memorable and connected to the spirit of the season — whether that’s a familiar place, a community moment or a small detail beautifully observed.
Does it make us stop and look?
Strong composition, atmosphere, emotion and originality will all play a part. The photograph should feel compelling enough to lead the Winter issue from the front.
Can we build a Green Guide cover around it?
We’ll consider how well the image works in portrait format, whether there is space for the Green Guide logo and cover lines, and how effectively it can translate into the final magazine design.
The final decision will be made by the Green Guide editorial team.
The selected photographer will be contacted directly, their photograph will appear on the Winter front cover, and they’ll be credited inside the magazine and across our social channels.
