A Space for Young Talent and Bright Ideas
The Children’s Corner is dedicated to celebrating the creativity, curiosity, and compassion of our young readers. It’s a space where children’s voices are heard, their talents are recognised, and their achievements are proudly shared with the community.
From imaginative stories and colourful artwork to musical talents, sporting successes, scientific discoveries, and inspiring acts of kindness, we shine a light on the many ways children express themselves and make a difference. By showcasing their unique perspectives and passions, we hope to inspire confidence, encourage creativity, and celebrate the next generation.

WHEN I CLOSE MY EYES
When I close my eyes,
A world appears, one with no fears.
A magical world with kindness.
The one power everyone needs,
The one power always succeeds.
Wars are no such thing, and bullying is nothing.
When a child enters school,
They give each other a tool
That makes them happy,
Head to the place,
Which is a smile on their face.
When anyone had a birthday,
Everyone would cheer,
No smug face or sneers.
I wish the world were bright
and no one had fright.
I think of the fun, but now it stays as my dream.
And it might be what we become.

OH MILKY WAY
Oh Milky Way, your stars
twinkle as they fade.
A small twinkle star travels so far.
The place that surrounds you
is as black as tar
taking you away through and far.
Sometimes I feel hypnotised,
circles flowing through my eyes.
Bright swirls making twirls
entrance me as you whirl.
Space flowing through my eyes.
But not getting me hypnotised.
Through the stars
and across Mars, life
doesn’t stop me dreaming.
Oh Milky Way, your stars
twinkle as they fade.
A small twinkle star travels so far.
The place that surrounds you
is as black as tar
taking you away through and far.

THE WORLD OF TOMORROW
I have a dream to roam the skies
To see the stars with my eyes
To reach out and grab the sun
OMG! It’ll be so much fun.
I’ll ride around the whole galaxy.
Wow, there is so much to see!
I’ll fly though the sky
On shooting stars I’ll go so high
Hopefully I’ll achieve this dream
And inspire others to be like me.
OCTOPUS
If you look deep under the seaOctopus you will surely see
A tiny hat and beady eyes
It lives beneath the chilly ice
If you spot one with underwear
You for certain saw something rare
They come in all shapes and sizes
The big one wins all the prizes
Tentacles come from its butt
It wears spectacles in its hut
THE BRUTAL BEAST OF SHIVERHOLLOW
Once upon a silver threaded twilight, there lived a young girl named Luna. Days passed,
and Luna grew up to be a courageous girl and her wild curiosity grew up with her. Luna’s
deep sense of empathy and concern for others made her liked by her peers.
One fateful evening, as dusk laid its fingers on the town, Luna overheard the townsfolk
gossiping about a house of horrors near the cliffside in the village of Shiverhollow. With
wonder sparkling like emeralds in her eyes, she began her strenuous journey to the
hidden village of Shiverhollow.
Numerous exhausting days passed by. Luna had crossed dark, mystical forests;
perilous creatures and ginormous guardians of the village. It was not at all welcoming:
there were dead bodies everywhere, a complete invasion of darkness, and a dreadful
atmosphere, making her almost collapse. But what bothered her the most was the eerie
silence that spread throughout the air. Luna, her heart pounding, slowly started to stroll
towards the cliffside.
Once she reached her destiny, she was astounded by the bizarre appearance of the
house. It looked as ancient as the wind’s first whisper, and the structure was as if it was
designed by a sculptor with no clay. The dilapidated door handle creaked as Luna began
to gently turn it.
Kr… Klick.
The musty and damp smell of rottenness rushed out as the door slammed open.
Bam!
Reluctantly, Luna dragged her feet inside… SHE WAS STUNNED!
Her eyes were blinded by the lights! There were piles and piles of gold and jewels,
untouched. Luna could not control herself anymore. She sprinted to the jackpot to stuffas much as she could into her pockets. But as soon as she laid her fingers on the
precious treasure, she heard a gruesome voice:
“HOW DARE YOU!?”
Luna froze. Out of nowhere, a black figure appeared.
“How dare you touch my belongings?” it growled. The beast had slimy grass green skin,
and also bare bones. It had a loose eye and a long, pointy nose, Luna was so disgusted
she couldn’t handle herself anymore. She fainted.
CHOMP! CHOMP! CHOMP!

SHOW YOU HOW IT’S DONE
It’s easy to show
but it’s not easy to glow. I smile when I see you.
I will show you how
when we are together it’s
stronger. I will show you how it’s done.
I feel so much better when it’s done.
I will find you when we are done, done, done.
THE THREE MONSTERS
The princess Lura runs away with her brother Jace and
they reach the magical island at night and stay at an old
monastery.
In the morning, they walk out of the monastery and reach the
shore of the sea. Today, there were high tides and they found
a mouse trying to escape from the tides. They both change
into their avenger suits to save the mouse.
The mouse leads them to the three monsters, Arkaza,
Rokoshebo, and Doma. They both start to attack Doma and
kill him. Then when they start attacking Rokoshebo, Jace gets
his hand chopped off, so Lura needs to kill him alone. At the
last moment, she kills him.
At the end when she starts attacking Arkaza, she gets a
scratch and thinks she will lose. The King and Queen come
and their soldiers kill him.

EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT
Different people have different brains.
Everyone is different in different ways.
Some people have problems with noise,
some people need help with writing,
some people just need ear defenders.
Everyone is different in different ways.
THE MOUSE
There was a mouse
who lived in a house.
But the mouse was too big to live in the house.
So the mouse squeezed himself out of his old dusty house.
But there was a cat outside!
JUST OUTSIDE!
But then the mouse stepped on a floor board
and ‘squeak’ the floor board went!
The cat heard the sound
and the cat ate the mouse.
So now the new house of the mouse
will be in the mouth of the CAT!
NATURE
Roses are red, violets are blue,
oh, how I would like a rose that is you.
You are a rose, that is you, yes you,
you, you, you — a rose that is you.
The sun is yellow, a big yellow fellow.
The thing that I like most is yellow.
The grass is green — I wouldn’t mean
to pick the grass, it’s green, see?
I’m really sure from every time you see me.
