The much-loved Chiswick House Dog Show returns on Sunday 20 September for its 22nd year, bringing another day packed with four-legged fun, friendly competition and community spirit to Chiswick House & Gardens.

What began as a local fundraising event has grown into one of West London's best-loved dog shows, attracting thousands of visitors every year. So whether you're a lifelong dog owner, thinking about getting your first puppy or simply fancy a great family day out, everyone is invited.

Of course, the dogs are the stars of the show.

With 17 competition classes, there's something for every personality. Elegant seniors can compete for Golden Oldie, energetic characters can show off in Waggiest Tail, and mischievous pups might even earn a rosette in Naughtiest Dog. There are classes celebrating rescue dogs, grooming, and hidden talents, all leading up to the day's ultimate prize – Best in Show.

One of the biggest highlights is always the Fancy Dress competition, which regularly draws huge crowds. This year's theme takes inspiration from the television show The Traitors, so expect plenty of creativity, laughter and maybe a few "faithfuls" and "traitors" competing for the judges' attention.

Around the show rings, visitors can browse 70 independent stalls, discover local pet businesses, talk with charities, enjoy delicious food and drink and watch the ever-popular Doggy Dash. Families can spread out picnics, while children meet dogs of every imaginable breed and size.

Best of all, it's completely free to attend as a spectator, making it an easy and affordable way to spend a Sunday with family and friends. It's a community event, suitable for people of all ages, families and children.

The event is made possible thanks to the support of local businesses and sponsors, with Dog Town and Wolfe Vets jointly sponsoring this year's show. Butternut Box will join them as a show ring sponsor, with many other local businesses backing individual classes, registration desk, volunteers' area and even the tombola. It is organised entirely by volunteers, whose dedication has helped build the show into the success it is today while raising vital funds for Chiswick House & Gardens Trust.

Xanthe Arvanitakis, Director of Chiswick House & GardensTrust, says:

"Every year we're amazed by the incredible enthusiasm and support from our dog lovers in our local community and from across London. The Chiswick House Dog Show is about celebrating the special bond between people and their dogs while raising funds to help protect these Gardens, keeping them open and welcoming for everyone, everyday."

Every entry helps support the ongoing conservation of Chiswick House & Gardens, ensuring this remarkable historic landscape remains open, beautiful and free for everyone to enjoy.

Whether you're entering your own furry friend or simply looking for a fantastic local day out, this is one of those events that reminds you exactly why Chiswick has such a strong community spirit.

So pack a picnic, bring the family and, of course, don't forget the dog.
